Welcome to St. Kitts.
It's almost 2nd block which means another round of Medicine to learn and tests to pass. I really enjoy Physiology right now. I'll break down my subjects into different groups so you can get a feel as to what we're learning:
(our Basic Sciences are broken up into tri-mesters, 3 semesters a year, with one being in the USA or on St. Kitts whichever you choose to study for the Step 1 Exam)
Gross Anatomy MD-1
This course is a ton of memorization. Basically we began with the Upper Limb which covers the Brachial Plexus, Condition like Wrist Drop, Carpal Tunnel, and others. We are now in the Lower Limb for Block 2. This should be an interesting block but I don't enjoy rote memorization at all.
Embryology
So far we have discussed organ formation, chapters 1-7 and are going to work on formation of skin and skull bones. It's been a lot of material. I barely did well on this exam and I'm trying to figure out my study strategies. I really enjoy some of the clinical aspects of this class but it is kindof dry.
Physiology
I passed this exam with a B and I was very happy about that. We are currently working on the Cardiovascular System so it should be exciting. I'm very happy that I'll get a chance to learn more about the CVS and how it works and different conditions relating to heart problems, heart circulation, etc.
